Tangram as an auxiliary tool in teaching Flat Geometry

The official documents of Brazilian Education highlight the importance of teaching Geometry. In this context, the present text aims to report an experience in the development of a teaching sequence proposed as part of the actions of the Programa Residência Pedagógica. This action was carried out in a 2nd year high school class at a state public school in Bahia by two residents of the Mathematics subproject of the Universidade Estadual de Santa Cruz Program, with the help of the preceptor teacher, where the concepts were of Area and Perimeter of flat figures were worked on. From this perspective, thinking about diversifying the practices to be developed, we chose to use Tangram, as a tool, in the process of teaching and learning Geometry. After completing the activities developed, it was possible to see how much activities of this type favor the integration of students, contributing to active participation in the learning process.
