Abstract

This work presents an online interview with Ocsana Sonia Danyluk, precursor of the term Mathematical Alphabetization. With a degree in Mathematics, she worked at the University of Passo Fundo (UPF) for more than 40 years as a teacher in undergraduate and postgraduate courses, in addition to being vice-rector of Undergraduate Studies. As a passionate about education and mathematics, she shared part of her academic life with inspiring icons for mathematics education and contributed to the training of countless mathematics teachers. The interview was part of the data collection for a thesis on mathematical literacy, bringing an unprecedented contribution by articulating the life story with the professional journey, in the intertwining of Mathematics with Education, with an emphasis on the concern with children's Mathematical Alphabetization and the training of future teachers. The invitation is to understand the aspects inherent to teaching mathematics based on the researcher's experiences.
