Abstract

Critical Mathematics is a movement concerned with the political aspects of mathematics education, placing issues of non-neutrality, power, and democracy at the center of the debate. Skovsmose (2001) includes dialogical relations in the pedagogical approach to mathematics. Given the challenges posed by technology in controlling production processes in entrepreneurial and cooperative enterprises, as well as in student education, Critical Mathematics presents itself as a potential tool for self-management and a possibility for advances in the emancipation of the working class.
