The objective of this work was to bring together narratives that would allow us to engage in dialogue with indigenous peoples and, at the same time, emphasize their understanding and respect for nature. We sought a theoretical framework that looked at indigenous authors such as Krenak (2009), Kopenawa (2015), Suruí, Dias and Almeida (2023), Kerexu and Julião (2023), among others who provided a holistic dialogue. Ancestral knowledge has much to teach us about how to reverse the global climate emergency. Looking at human beings as part of nature is one of the ways that helps us protect and preserve nature. We conclude that it is up to us, researchers or not, to capture the variables and subtle relationships that indigenous peoples present to us as possibilities for breaking with a capitalism that destroys nature and leads to the extermination of human life, water, forests, and animals.
