Ethics and Good Practices in Publication
Mathematics Education in Review - RS (MER - RS) , e-ISSN 3085-8771, is a peer-reviewed journal that aims to ensure the highest standards of ethics in publication. Therefore, the agreement of all agents involved in the editorial process – Editorial Team, Editorial and Scientific Board, ad hoc Reviewers, and Authors – regarding ethical conduct standards is fundamental and indispensable. Referencing the Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), MER-RS
considers the following principles:
The Editorial Team is responsible for:

Analyzing submitted articles and approving those that align with the
EMR-RS
scope for the editorial flow, considering the journal's thematic focus, publication guidelines, and legal aspects regarding defamation, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. -
Guiding Guest Editors, Authors, and Reviewers on the editorial flow and the peer-review process, which includes adherence to
EMR-RS
guidelines, submission, evaluation, and subsequent actions. -
Ensuring an anonymous (double-blind peer review), fair, and impartial review process for articles, guaranteeing that information remains confidential.

Protecting the identity of authors and reviewers involved in the review process.

Making an appropriate selection of reviewers.

Organizing and keeping updated the list of reviewers' data.

Ensuring that unpublished materials from an article are not used in research and publications by the Editorial Team or members of the Editorial Board without the prior consent of the authors.

Responding to inquiries related to published articles concerning possible editorial misconduct, following COPE guidelines.

Publishing, when necessary, corrections, clarifications, retractions, and apologies.

Ensuring the autonomy of editorial decisions.

Protecting intellectual property and authors' rights.

Ensuring the continuous maintenance of good editorial practices.
Guest Editors are responsible for:

Defining the theme and scope of the dossier or special issue, as well as the submission and editorial flow timeline.

Guiding authors regarding the conception of the dossier and its editorial flow.

Analyzing submitted articles and approving those that fall within the scope of the call for papers for progression in the editorial flow, considering the conception, publication guidelines, and legal aspects regarding defamation, copyright infringement, and plagiarism.

Ensuring, in collaboration with the Editorial Team, the appropriate selection of reviewers for the articles.

Preparing the presentation of the dossier or special issue.
Reviewers (members of the Scientific Board or ad hoc Reviewers) are responsible for:

Notifying the Editorial Team of their availability to review an article.

Declining the invitation if they do not feel qualified to perform the review due to the topic addressed; identification of aspects that lead to recognizing authorship; and/or if there is a conflict of interest.

Treating manuscripts as confidential documents, protecting the intellectual property and rights of the authors, maintaining secrecy about the information, and committing not to use privileged information for personal gain, including in their own research and/or publications.

Informing the Editorial Team about the identification of rights violations by authors and/or plagiarism practices.

Preparing the review based on good editorial practices regarding ethics, impersonality, reasonableness, and respect for human rights.
Authors are responsible for:

Knowing the focus, scope, and conception of
EMR-RS
, as well as the submission guidelines. -
Preparing the article based on conducted investigation and/or systematic study, coherently addressing and discussing the data, and presenting contributions to the field of Mathematics Education.

Ensuring that the submitted article is original and unpublished, guaranteeing a consistent approach and significant analysis.

Not submitting the article simultaneously to another journal or editorial vehicle.

Adhering to the regulations of the Research Ethics Committee of the institution to which the research described in the article is linked, when human subjects are involved.

Ensuring that there are no expressions or insertions that constitute plagiarism, and providing due credit by citing sources for excerpts from other productions.

Ensuring that the article has not been previously published in another journal.

Attributing authorship to those who contributed significantly to the conception and development of the article, limiting to a maximum of three authors.

Maintaining communication with the Editorial Team, including informing them of the need for any corrections in the published article.
