Volume 3, Issue 27 (2026) of Educação Matemática em Revista – RS presents the thematic dossier of the Regional Forum on Initial Teacher Education for Teachers Who Teach Mathematics, promoted by SBEM-RS. The issue brings together studies developed from the discussions and syntheses produced during the Forum, addressing inclusion and diversity, the curricularization of university extension, teacher education in Indigenous, Quilombola, and rural contexts, curriculum policies, research in teacher education, and mathematical knowledge for professional practice.

Drawing on different theoretical and methodological perspectives, the papers share an understanding of initial teacher education as a space for inquiry, dialogue, reflection, and collective knowledge production, contributing to a Mathematics Education committed to critical, inclusive, democratic, and socially grounded formative practices.
