This study investigates the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI), specifically ChatGPT, into the teaching and learning process of Ordinary Differential Equations (ODE) in an undergraduate Mathematics course. It is grounded in the theoretical perspectives of humans-with-media and experimentation-with-technology, aiming to discuss how students experiment with ChatGPT while solving a task involving ODE topics. A qualitative approach was adopted based on the analysis of written records and audio-video discussions involving four students during a two-hour practical activity, in which they used ChatGPT and the Google Colab platform. The results indicate that, although ChatGPT presents limitations in matrix interpretation and algebraic calculations, its use promotes reflection and the collective construction of knowledge. It is concluded that AI, when critically mediated by the teacher, does not replace human thinking but enhances critical analysis.
